Islamic Forum of Parliamentarians Condemns Hijacking of “Madeline” Ship: A New Zionist Crime Against Humanity

The Islamic Forum for International Parliamentarians (IFIP) has issued an urgent statement condemning what it describes as a “new Zionist crime” following the interception of the humanitarian ship Madeline and the kidnapping of international volunteers on board by Israeli occupation forces.

In a statement dated June 10, 2025, the Forum declared that the attack constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian and maritime law, labeling it an act of terrorism and piracy against humanitarian efforts.

The Madeline ship had set sail in an attempt to break the blockade on Gaza, carrying aid and a message of solidarity. Instead, it was met with aggression and abduction, the statement said, further exposing the occupation’s hostility toward fundamental human values and international norms.

The Forum also hailed the “Maghreb March”, a solidarity convoy launched from several North African nations and now approaching the Libyan-Egyptian border. The march aims to reach the Rafah crossing with humanitarian aid and a message of defiance against the siege on Gaza. IFIP described the march as a symbol of grassroots and parliamentary unity across the Islamic world and a testament to the determination of free people to challenge injustice.

The Forum called for the following actions:

  1. A firm international condemnation of the Israeli piracy and aggression against the Madeline.
  2. Immediate release of all abducted volunteers, stressing that continued detention is an unacceptable act of aggression.
  3. Political and legal action by parliaments in the Islamic world and by global advocates of justice to hold Israel accountable at international forums.
  4. Urgent intervention by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Inter-Parliamentary Union, and international human rights organizations to secure the release of the detainees and to prosecute the perpetrators.
  5. Recognition of the Gaza blockade as an ongoing humanitarian crime, and a call for every free parliament and conscience around the world to work toward breaking it.

“The Madeline volunteers were not deterred by global silence or threats,” the Forum stated, asserting that the Maghreb March represents a growing movement of freedom that will not stop until the siege is broken and the war on Gaza ends.

The Forum concluded by reaffirming its parliamentary, humanitarian, and Islamic responsibility to stand as a voice, shield, and support for those resisting oppression through peaceful humanitarian missions.
